“The ‘Lánzate/Take Off’ travel award allows a student to go home during Christmas break or allows a parent to see their child at graduation,” said Christine Ortega, Southwest Airlines Corporate Community Affairs Manager.  “This contact removes barriers and gives each student more confidence to pursue their dreams of higher education without worrying about the family’s economic hardships,” says Ortega.
HACU, which has its national headquarters in San Antonio, Texas, represents approximately 450 colleges and universities, including Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), which collectively serve more than two-thirds of all Hispanic higher education students in the United States and Puerto Rico.  HACU’s international membership includes leading higher education institutions in Latin America and Europe.

Are there any scholarship opportunities for a high school senior? I am ranked 4th in my graduating class of 380 students, while taking advanced placement and dual enrollment classes as well as taking on a full load during my senior year, taking courses such as AP environmental science, AP calculus, AP stats, etc. I have managed to maintained a high standard of academic success. However, because my mom has a college degree (teaching field) and my dad has a decent job for this region of the country and together make slightly over $100,000 I am having a hard time getting any scholarships. Most seem to be geared for the “econonmically disadvantaged” which I think is great, but what about the middle class student? Please write back with any suggestions for me. I have filled out countless scholarships and have had no success thus far. Thank you for your time. Kalinah Sanchez

  2. You may want to try scholarships for hispanics to see if you can find some leads.

  3. ok i have lerning on information technology in ethiopia but now i need a lerning on your college

  4. for Kalina Sanchez, you need to look up scholarships that are merit based. Also, just because you are taking such a courseload does not mean that you will be guaranteeing yourself a scholarship. application readers look for quality not quantity. Make sure to be committed to 1 or 2 clubs or activities that way you can write a good personal statement.
