One Response to Financial Aid for Hispanic Students: Applying For Scholarships

  1. Lydia Leon (Torres) Arnold says:

Hello, my name is Lydia. I am a Hispanic female, 57 years of age. I have been a nurse in Arizona for nearly 40 years. I am currently a RN and I have an excellent work record. For the first time in my career, I was recently fired from a local hospital. I claimed to the state I was discriminated against in violation of the equal employment opportunity laws and the hospital did not dispute my claim. I was forced to find another job but was part of a mass firing of nurses there last week based on frivilous claims. I am finding it difficult to find employment in our rural area in the current economic climate. My husband is a farmer but is disabled. I wish to pursue a masters degree as a nurse practioner but have no income presently. Our farm is also our home and we have a mortgage and bills to meet. Can you advise if there are grants or loans available to Hispanic females in my age bracket and situation that will allow me to pursue my masters degree as a nurse practioner? I am much obliged for any assistance you may be able to provide in this matter. Thank you.

    Very Truly Yours,

    Lydia
