HSF Scholarship Recipient

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

As a recipient of financial aid from the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, I can vouch for them as a reliable organization.

I was in my graduate studies when I applied for the scholarship. One thing about the scholarship is that you have to be attending college or graduate school as a full time student. In fact many of the scholarships out there ask that you are a full time student. I guess organizations just want to make sure that you are going to apply yourself or they know that it’s hard to work and go to school full-time, who know but that is the case many times.

HSF provided me a $2,500 check in my name for me to attend that semester. They sent me a letter and a stuffed animal from Target. I say Target because they were responsible for sending me the monies. So I am forever grateful to Target and shop there whenever I get a chance. That’s the Hispanic way, we are loyal people, you help me in a time of need and I will be forever grateful. When starting off a new business, Hispanic small business grants are sometimes needed to help you come up with your much needed capital. These business transactions are often considered to be better alternatives to loaning as they are not usually subject to payments or conditions that becoming too heavy in the long run (i.e. interests), lowering the risk of entrepreneurs experiencing any financial crises in the future. Hispanic Small business grants are financial aid to the budding business man as a scholarship is to a striving student – they help the person achieve their goals at little or no cost, in the hope that they become independent in the future and do not become an economic burden to the society, but instead one of its valued contributors.

Not all Hispanics are aware of the process you have to follow in order to get a scholarship and in their confusion many parents or significant others simply fail to save on thousands of dollars spent on the education of their children. If you want to own your own home but you think that you can’t afford it then you may want to look into federal Hispanic housing grants.

The first types of government grants that are available to help low income families buy a home are Urban Development Grants. To qualify for these grants both you, and the home that you are interested in, will need to meet basic qualifications. You will need to make enough money to make mortgage payments, you will need a good credit score, and you will need to have steady employment in place. For your house to qualify for one of these federal housing grants it will need to meet quality standards and it will need to be priced below the value cap.

Hispanic Grants Loans

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Hispanics that study hard can earn college loans, grants, and scholarships. A good school does not have enough room for every person who wants to attend, so competition becomes a necessary part of the college admission process. Getting a good college education is more and more important in the job market, and admission standards and college tuition prices continue to rise. Federal student loans generally can’t cover all of your education costs, but Hispanic grants loans, and scholarships are available for those who qualify based on need, their good credit history, and their academic excellence. With a combination of these different sources of funding, if you can get into a good school you should also be able to pay for it.

When you are considered a part of a minority group, being successful is not always an easy thing to achieve. Minorities who become citizens of the United States deserve the same benefits given to the rest of the population. That is why minority grants help make sure that those who are found in minority share equal rights and possibilities with the majority. There are a number of minority grants available including grants for small business, health care, education, and personal minority grants.

Hispanic Education Grants

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

The costs of attending college today continues to skyrocket. Hispanic students are finding it nearly impossible to finance their own education. With costs exceeding $15,000 a year, getting a part-time job often isn’t the answer. Balancing an education with the demands of a full-time job is becoming increasing impossible. Find Free College Money!

Hispanics who want to pursue higher education and need monetary help to attend college have a couple of options. Self-help federal aid allows you to get loans and work-study programs. The second option, gifts don’t require repayment.

In addition to the US Federal government, other organizations offer aid as well. This aid comes in the form of college Hispanic education grants. The great thing about Hispanic education grants, like the majority of grants and unlike student loans, is that you don’t have to repay the money.

College education grants are based on need and are highly competitive. These grants won’t necessarily cover all costs of an education, but provide the bridge that can make educational pursuits possible. These grants are donated by federal or state governments, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, research institutions, funding institutions, corporations, and private individuals.

The key is to start your research early when looking for college education grant opportunities. Starting during your junior year of high school is not too early. Anyone who wishes to pursuit a post-secondary education should complete a Free Application for Student Aid form and forward it to the department of education as early as possible. This should be submitted to the state assistance agency in the state where you hope to attend college or university. You may find eligibility for more than one grant or scholarship. Many grants are donated on a first-come first-served basis, so it’s best to get applications in early.

The Federal Pell Grant and the Federal Educational Supplemental Opportunity grant are two of the most popular and well-known need-based grants.

The Federal Pell Grant provides need-based grants to low-income undergraduate and certain post-baccalaureate students. Students may use their grants at any one of approximately 5,400 participating postsecondary institutions.

The Federal Educational Supplemental Opportunity Grant Program provides need-based grants to low-income undergraduate students for post-secondary education. Students can receive these grants at any one of approximately 4,000 participating postsecondary institutions. Institutional financial aid administrators at participating institutions have substantial flexibility in determining the amount of FSEOG awards to provide students who are enrolled or accepted for enrollment.

Start with your local library or high school counselor’s office for information about all the financial aid available to you. On the web, an internet search with the words college and grants should prove very useful. Some of the more popular sites such as finaid.org, collegeanswer.com, and the Michigan State Library website are excellent sources for college education grant information.
