Adelante Fund Internship Program

The Adelante organization has assisted over 1000 applicants from across the country and focuses on developing leaders from their Leadership Institute that was organized between 1997 and 1999. The number of awards vary each year. Recently 22 students have received this scholarship. Applicants are Latino and are also college students. Skills that are focused on are career management, talent, communication, and leadership. The goal is to provide students with leadership training, internships and financial aid, which includes Hispanic scholarships.

This leadership group has hosted both the Leadership Institute Nursing Students & Leadership Day, The Chicago Leadership Institute. They have also been involved with putting together webinars as informational sessions for undergraduate students who will soon be looking for internships, jobs, as well as other various topics.

The Fund Internship Program

This program was designed to assist in educating the corporate world needs with an educated workforce that includes the college age Hispanic student. Juniors as well as seniors who attend a 4 year institute is required to seek hands on training and practicum skills after being accepted into the program.

Intern opportunities through the Adelante program is offered all over the United States. Students will learn what it means to maintain a successful career upon graduation.

Who is eligible?

* Hispanic students and HS1 enrollment
* 3.0 or higher GPA
* Summer internship eligibility
* 2 letters of recommendation
* Financial aid eligibility
* Junior or senior in college
* Adelante Leadership Institute attendance
* Students who display leadership

Financial Aid Information

The award is for 1 year and the maximum amount given is $3,000 per year.

Additional Information

In lieu of proof of enrollment, incoming freshmans or students who transfer in can provide an acceptance letter. This letter can be obtained through the registrars office of the university.

The letter of recommendation or LOR needs to highlight all the leadership qualities that have been demonstrated while attending school or while providing service in the community.

Official transcripts are to only be mailed in and it must have the school’s official seal. Plan ahead for this as it is typical to receive transcripts within 4 to 6 weeks.

A resume must be included within the packet and should either highlight the applicants work history or activities that the student was involved in while attending school.

If the packet has already been turned in for approval and the required GPA happens to fall below the approved standard, then the second part of the scholarship will be forfeited.
